THE BLIND CENTER Blind Center

Blind Center Receives $1000.00 from IBM Corporation

The Blind Center received $1000.00 from IBM Corporation today, making a total of $4,000.00 donated by the company to The Blind Center since 2005.

The money received from IBM will be used to purchase supplies for the Center's Chair and Stool weaving Program.

Carole Persche, a retired IBM  employee and volunteer in The Blind Center's Chair and Stool Weaving Program has applied annually, since 2005, through IBM's Community Grant Program.  The request must meet eligibility criteria in three areas:  The requester must be an IBM employee or retiree who has demonstrated sustained volunteer activity and registered on the On Demand Community site; the proposed recipient must be a valid non-profit organization; the grant must be for a specific local project or activity.

Mrs. Pershe is a dedicated volunteer, working with ninety-eight year old Corinne Wooolard who is almost blind and deaf.  The two make a wonderful pair and they get a lot of work done.

The contribution will enable the Blind Center to continue with its mission of helping the blind and visually impaired remain as independent as possible.

Carole and husband, Steve Persche reside in Bath, NC.
